EIS2008 now compatible with MS-Office2007.
|
| The latest version of EIS2002,
designated EIS2008, has been developed and tested in order to be
able to work under MS-Access2007. An advantage of this is that this
version can be installed as a runtime version, meaning that full MS-Access
does not have to have been installed first. EIS2002 is compatible
with MS-Access 2000, XP(2002), and 2003. EIS2008 is compatible with
MS-Access 2000 through 2007. EIS97 and EIS2000 were compatible with MS-Access
97.

AQDL2
supports Thermo iSeries analyzers
|
| Using a MODBUS protocol
interface between the AQDL2 RTU and any of the new Thermo iSeries
of analyzers, AQDL2 can now be configured to acquire status and
diagnostic parameter data from these instruments, and relay the information to the
EIS2002/EIS2008 for normal data storage and reporting. |

Cellular communication capability added to
AQDL2.
|
| With assistance from National
Cellular and Bell Mobility, RKM Engineering has successfully
completed testing of two methods of cellular communication between EIS and
AQDL2 RTUs. The first and simpler method uses a normal dial-up modem at
the EIS end, which connects with a PCS cellular modem at the RTU end. The
user will be charged for air time, similar to normal (voice) cellular
telephone use. The second, more sophisticated, method uses a 1X cellular
modem with internal tcp/ip stack at the RTU. The EIS contacts this modem
through the internet. The modem translates the ip-packets to normal modbus
packets which are transferred to and from the RTU through the serial port.
The user is charged based on the amount of data transferred. At the EIS
end configuration and setup is identical to the setup for an Ethernet
based RTU, except that an internet connection rather than an intranet
connection is required. We have tested Bluetree and Redwing modems and in
supported by National Cellular we
can offer both kind of cellular communications for new or existing EIS
networks. The cellular communication method joins the existing array of
communication types for the EIS: leased line, dial-up, Ethernet, private
radio and licence-free spread-spectrum radio. In the Atlantic provinces
this solution is supported by Aliant.

Coleson Cove
Refurbishment Air Quality Network contract awarded to RKM Engineering.
|
| The New Brunswick Power Corporation has
awarded a contract to RKM Engineering to supply a complete Air Quality
Network as part of the Coleson Cove GS Refurbishment Project. This network
will include four AQDL2 based Ambient Air Quality Stations, all with SO2
analyzers, and two with an additional; PM2.5 monitor; as well as a
Meteorological Station with two levels of wind speed and direction, two
levels of temperature, as well as Solar Radiation, Relative Humidity, and
Barometric Pressure. An EIS2002 Master Station will be supplied as part of
this turn-key package as well. RKM Engineering won this contract by means
of a competitive bid.

New real-time EIS2002 based
web site updated once a minute.
|
| RKM Engineering has completed a public
website linked to the EIS2002 system of Inco
Limited, Manitoba Division. The website is updated once a minute, and
provides real-time data for the 1-minute, 30-minute running and hourly
averages of Inco's Ambient Air Quality data, as well as monthly reports of
current and previous months. The site can be visited at http://www.inco-thompson-airquality.com

AQDLTerm released for production
|
AQDLTerm is a new MS-Windows
based support program for the AQDL2 RTUs. It can be used in stand alone
applications, where an RTU is not supported and controlled by EIS2000, or
it can be used for local diagnostics. AQDLTerm has the following features:
 | C-program loading |
 | Configuration of all AQDL2 parameters, saved in local database |
 | Configuration reporting, uploading and downloading |
 | Data retrieval, with export to comma-delimited text files, for
import by spread sheet programs, etc. |
 | Calibration results retrieval, also exportable |
 | Real-time, continuously updated display of selected parameters
(option) |
 | Extensive on-line Help |

New features added to EIS2000
|
A number of new features have been added to EIS2000, the
latest version of which is 2.75. Some of these features are:
 | Automatically scheduled reports can now be sent to any network
printer, where previously only the default printer could be used. |
 | Alarm messages can be transmitted to email recipients, with a fully
programmable list of recipients (by station and by message type) |
 | Voice alarming has become more versatile, with a fully programmable
list of phone numbers (by station and by message type) |
 | Alarm messages can now be generated when AQDL2 warning levels have
been exceeded |
 | A Pollution Rose report is now optionally available. This report is
similar to the Wind Distribution report, but columns
represent compass directions, rows represent wind speed bins, while
the cells are populated with the average pollutant concentration for
the direction/speed combination. The report is available in on-demand
mode only in tabular as well as graphical representation. |
 | Reporting on a Secondary Database (eg. a CD-ROM based archived
database) is now optionally available. This makes restoring of
backed-up and purged data unnecessary. |
 | Many reports can now be produced in comma-delimited flat file
format, both in on-demand and automatic reporting modes |
 | Browser report data can now be saved to a flat file in
comma-delimited format |

AQDL Data Loggers to be
discontinued
|
| Control Microsystems Inc has announced
the planned retirement of the TeleSAFE 6000 series, the RTU on which RKM
Engineering's AQDL Data Logger is based. AQDL data loggers as well as
spare parts can still be ordered until March 2002, but at a significantly
higher price than before. After that time, support for the AQDL systems
will still be available, but repairs will be subject to parts
availability. For new systems and existing systems we strongly recommend
our new AQDL2
Air Quality Data Logger. (posted March 22, 2001) |

AQDL2 Air Quality Data Loggers now
shipping
|
| With the recent shipment of a 16-channel AQDL2
Air Quality Data Logger to Environment New Brunswick (NB-ELG) for their
new Mobile Air Quality Monitoring station, our new product is now fully
launched. We are proud to report that we were able to ship this particular
system, fully pre-configured for the application, in just three weeks
following receipt of the order. As the order was placed just days before
the seasonal holidays, actual delivery time was a mere two weeks. At
the same time, NB-ELG's EIS97 system was upgraded to EIS2000. (Posted

AQDL2: the SCADAPack version of our classic AQDL
Data Logger
|
| RKM Engineering will be launching a new product line of Air Quality Data
Loggers, based on Control Microsystems' SCADAPack RTUs. These loggers run our AQDL2
program, written in 'C', resulting in a vast performance improvement over the
now classic AQDL based data loggers. The launch date will coincide with the
AQ2000 Workshop. (Posted September 12, 2000) |
